On the Inequality among Mankind is Jean-Jacques Rousseau's attempt to find the origin of inequality and to determine whether or not it is natural by analyzing the evolution of human nature. He argues that initially humans are good, but that as they formed societies, the need to be superior to others emerged. Thus, his conclusion is that physical inequality is the only type that is natural and that other forms are unacceptable.
